Since August 2022, EUR researchers can connect their ORCID iD and record to their Pure profile. Publications, employment information, a link to the EUR Research Portal and other author ids are pushed from the Pure repository to the ORCID record. So far, over 12.000 publications were forwarded to ORCID records!
Some questions and remarks we received:
- The employment information: from the Pure registry only the name of the university is pushed to the ORCID record. As a researcher, you probably also want to add your school, role and start date in that role. Unfortunately, you can't edit the information added via Pure, so you have to add that information manually, in a new entry. However, the information added by the university has added value for others: it works as a 'trust maker' - the university (in our case 'EUR Research Portal') confirms that you work at the EUR.
If you don't want the employment information pushed from Pure visible in your ORCID record, change the visibility setting of that entry from 'Everyone' to 'Trusted parties' (recommended) or 'Only me'. If you delete the information, it will be added again when the data between Pure and ORCID is synchronized the next day.
- The works information: if a publication is already in your ORCID record, for example added by Crossref, imported via Scopus or added manually, ORCID will merge the entries if the same identifier - like the DOI - is available. The work will be visible once, showing the information of the 'preferred source'. You can select this preferred source per item. If there is no identifier or if there different identifiers, then ORCID will not merge the entries automatically, but you can combine the works, to display them as a single item.
